The Beirn (pronounced “burn”) bag….
Throughout their travels in many parts of the world, Indonesia being one, mother Rita and her two daughters, Ali, and Jenna, decided to design a few bags made of authentic watersnake just for themselves as a memory of their trip. After experiencing the response that the bag received from friends back home in New York, the girls decided that this was one bag that needed to be introduced to the world.

As Rita had done for many designers in the past and continues today, she decided to help her girls launch their idea into a reality. Using both daughters’ middle name, a family name, “Beirn,” Rita, Ali and Jenna did just that. As CEO of the The RJM Group, Rita used the same strategies that were so successful in launching and developing her other clients.

In Fall 2007, Beirn officially launched with their signature “Jenna” hobo. The beirn bag is lined with a lightweight canvas material that can endure the lifestyle of a jet-setting woman, while the snakeskin exterior is sure to make any cosmopolitan trendsetter feel so enigmatic with her smart bag in tow. The idea of having a mixed representation of luxury, durability and versatility in one series of bags gave them the opportunity to fill a void in the market to a large audience.

From the original bag, Beirn has since grown to a full line created to accessorize from head to toe, offering versatile pieces that allow a woman express her personal style in every component of her. From colorful headbands, belts, tote bags and clutches, to stylish, yet practical ballet flats and sandals, each piece in the Beirn collection artfully incorporates the signature watersnake material in a rainbow of vibrant and classic shades. Many of the colors are available with the natural markings of the watersnake, creating an authentic and luxurious look at a surprisingly pleasing price point.

Recent collections introduce new materials and design techniques to update the classic styles and expand with new shapes. Innovative additions of suede, stingray, raffia and hand-printed Batik designs have provided new textures and original designs to keep each new collection fresh and authentic from season to season.

All Beirn pieces on the line are extremely lightweight watersnake, with little to no hardware, and the design is so functional with interior pockets for PDA and cellphone and zippered compartments, all lined in a durable canvas in a contrasting color.
Beirn is sold all over the world from Russia to Mexico, in specialty boutiques and highly respected stores including Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, and Plaza Too. Beirn in-store boutiques have opened in New York’s iconic Henri Bendel, with plans on adding Beirn shops in Searle retail stores in Fall 2009.
