Beirn launches special edition line of Batik Tattoo Print Handbags.
Spring 2009, New York, NY-The mother and two-daughter team behind the handbag and accessory line, Beirn, have taken a new approach to updating their signature “Jenna” Hobo for the Spring 2009 season. The design of the “Tattoo” bag was inspired by Bali, the place where the first Beirn bag originated and the line is still handcrafted. The result is an intricate, limited-edition collection that reflects the ancient Indonesian artistry in bold colors and a truly unique design.
While surrounded by Batik printed fabrics and even plumes of peacock feathers, a drawing was created to embody the beautiful artistry of the print inherent to Bali. Two local designers hand-carved a stamp based on the drawing, which is then dipped in vibrant inks and applied artistically to the white background of the genuine watersnake bag. The contrast of the distinct colors of coral, chocolate, jade and mulberry create unique patterns for a distinct one-of-a-kind piece.
The special edition line consists of 46 tattooed Jenna bags available at select retailers including Takashimaya, Henri Bendel, Vivre and Neiman Marcus Cusp. Each bag includes the edition number and artist’s signature stamped to indicate the authenticity of each piece. The Tattoo Jenna Hobo retails for $625.
